Our pop-up cocktail party with Michael Cartellone was rockin' and rollin' in May!
The artist and his wonderful wife Nancy stopped by between 5:30 and 7:00 to chat with fans as well as staff. It was an amazing opportunity to hear Mr. Cartellone speak about his journey in the art world and how his style is progressing.
Michael Cartellone, if you're not familiar, is the multi-platinum recording drummer of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Damn Yankees, and has been painting since the age of four (five years earlier than he started drumming)!
His art, which combines his love of rock with his love of painting, ranges in scope from portraits and still lifes to mixed media originals and rock memorabilia. He often uses drum heads as his surface of choice, the canvas for his music as well as for his paintings.
Cartellone has received widespread media attention for his art and is continuously refining his skills and evolving from one subject to the next. Notable credits include ARTnews Magazine (2006), CNN (2009), The Examiner (2011), Northern Virgina Brunch Magazine (2014), and more.
